SL2 – CT Solar Lease 2

Leasing solar panels is an affordable way to go solar.  A solar lease has no upfront costs.  Once the solar panels are installed and commissioned you start paying fixed monthly  payments.  The monthly payments can be lower than your current electric bill or competitive with what is paid to CL&P now.  A great site with a south facing roof and little shade will offer the lowest monthly payment.   Installation, material, monitoring, and a warranty management program are included in the solar lease package.

Waldo Renewable Electric, LLC has partnered with CEFIA, Clean Energy Finance Investment Authority, and AFC First Bank to offer SL2 – Solar Lease 2.

Power outage – backup system

Hurricane Sandy power outages has increased the demand for back up power solutions. Our electrical services can get heat, hot water, lights and refrigerators working.  Back up power systems include generators with a manual transfer switch, generators with an automatic transfer switch  or a solar battery back up system.

Please call us at 860-510-0077 or email rebecca@waldorenewable.com.  After Hurricane Sandy our telephone and internet were down, but we were able to obtain messages intermittently.

Connecticut Commercial Solar Power Purchase Agreement

UPS Building – Waterford, CT

Connecticut Business owners and solar installers are anxiously awaiting the opening of the under 100 kW ZREC application with United Illuminating and Connecticut Light and Power.   With ZREC funding the cost of a 100 kW solar power system is a lucrative investment for many Connecticut business owners.  Some commercial institutions may have the capital to invest in a solar panel system on their own while many business entity’s do not have the capital to invest in solar and financing makes solar possible.

At Waldo Renewable Electric, LLC we design, engineer and install photovoltaic systems and have partnered with a third party financier to help some of our commercial customers go solar.  A Power Purchase Agreement is commonly used to pay for a solar system over the course of 10 or 15 years. Once the solar panels are installed the business will end up paying monthly payments with little or no upfront costs.

Our financing partner starts with a 10% savings on an average bill.  When the ZREC funding is available the initial 10% electrical savings will increase.  The financier is able to do this by utilizing the 30% Federal Tax Credit. For non profits this is a fantastic opportunity as non profits are unable to capitalize on the 30% federal tax credit.  While lowering capital costs a business is  increasing the wealth of the company.  After the 10 or 15 year Power Purchase Agreement is completed the company has an asset that offset’s electric expenditures and compliments a clean business model.

Complete an Energy Assessment Prior to CT solar installs

Charlie’s Closet – Guilford, CT

Waldo Renewable Electric, LLC

CEFIA requires homeowners to conduct an energy audit prior to solar installation. Home Energy Solutions (HES) offers energy audits for a discounted rate of $75. An HES audit takes about 4 hours. The auditors will run a blower door test and check for leaky windows, vents, doors, etc. Once leaks are located they will be sealed free of charge. The auditors also replace incandescent bulbs with CFL’s and low flow faucets. HES paperwork is required by CEFIA as part of the solar rebate application.

Solar AC panels – micro inverters

AC Solar Panels

Above are 33 Sunpower 225 ACPV panels.  We installed this solar AC panel system last week in Old Saybrook, CT.  Each solar panel has it’s own micro inverter attached on the underside of the solar panel.  The micro inverter system maximizes the output of the overall array.  When shade occurs on the solar array only the panel that is shaded has a reduced output.  The micro inverter warranty is 25 years.  AC panels systems are easy to install and include monitoring systems that measure each solar panel.

Six Years later Solar Panels Over Producing Estimated Outcome

After Six Years in Operation Customer Has 8,000 kwh's Overproduction

Waldo Renewable Electric, LLC customer’s of six years called us in for some electrical work.  While on site we were able to take a look at the solar array and inverter that we installed years ago.  The solar power system has produced 43,000 kwh’s in just shy of six years.  We estimated the system to produce 7,016 annually.  Each year it has over produced about 1,300 kwh’s for a total of 8,000 kwh’s.  Hooray for solar energy!
